Emily Day Markham, 68, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011.

Born in Trenton, TN, she was the daughter of the late Otis Day and Vera Powell Day. She graduated from the University of Tennessee, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the Chi Omega Fraternity. She was a member of Louisa Chapel UMC. Emily was an entrepreneur, real estate broker and co-owner of Prudential Real Estate. She taught microwave cooking, had a television show and wrote a cookbook. She was very civic minded; serving for many organizations. She was the first female Chamber of Commerce President; was a charter member of the toast masters chapter in franklin and was on the board of directors for Reach, Habitat for Humanity and Angel Medical Center. She loved to travel and enjoyed working with people. Emily was a friend to everyone. Most of all she enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Ron Markham; two children, Kristin Markham Scott and husband William Drake Scott of Asheville, NC and Ronald Lee Markham III and wife Michelle of Franklin; brother, Ron Day and wife Karen of Greenville, TN; seven grandchildren, Cade Corbett, Reid Emily Corbett, Mallory Corbett, Sarah Scott, Drake Scott, Garrett Markham and Justin Markham; friend and caretaker, Colleen Keneipp and granddaughter, Kaedyn Tallent and many well-loved sister and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and other extended family.

Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Janet Greene will officiate.
