Elsie Passmore Holland, 90, of Franklin, NC, went to her heavenly home, January 15, 2019.

She was born to the late Pearl and Curtis Passmore, June 19,1928, in Nantahala, NC. Elsie was predeceased by her daughter Karen Payne of Franklin, NC.

Elsie was the matriarch of her family. She was never afraid of hard work, but her greatest accomplishment was raising her six children. She had a love for flowers and gardening. People often stopped to admire her beautiful flower gardens, much to her pleasure. She loved all of God's creatures and often took in strays to feed. We sometimes thought people knew exactly where to drop them off. We grew up with little nuggets of wisdom, such as "Don't get too cute, too quick." As her health declined, she was comforted by her family.

Elsie is survived by son, Duane C. Welch of Daytona Beach, FL, daughter, Sandra Childers (Ray) of Sylva, NC, daughter, Linda Winstead (Doyle) of Sylva, NC, son, Max Welch of Charleston, SC, son and Edwin Welch of Franklin, NC. She is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elsie wishes to have her ashes spread with her loving parents at a later date.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1pm Thursday, April 4th, at the Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.
