Elsie Evelyn MacDonald Higgins, 90, of Franklin, passed away Friday, August 17, 2007, after a period of declining health.
She was born in Brantord, Ontario Canada and was the daughter of the late Elsie Evelyn MacDonald and step-father Duncan J. MacDonald. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Murray J. Higgins, who died June 5, 1982; and a son, Charles J. Higgins who died in 2002. Elsie was an avid speed skater in high school and enjoyed all sports in high school. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Port of Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, FL and then was a homemaker and ran a business at the Franklin Flea Market for some years, "Elsie's Homemade Goodies" until her declining health. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Electa Sunday School Class.
Surviving in addition to her daughter, Kathleen Evelyn Hook of the home and son-in-law, John D. Hook of Franklin; a son, Thomas Higgins of Flippin, Ark.; a daughter, Patricia Hobgood of Ark.; twelve grandchildren; and several great and great great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Ball and Rev. Jim Dusek will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, August 20, at Macon Funeral Home.
