Elmer Cook, 72, of Franklin, NC, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013.
Born in Swain Co., he was the son of the late Clyde Henry Cook and Polly Mae Lequire Cook. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, David, Lloyd, Lawrence and Doyle Cook. Elmer was a retired US Navy Chief Petty Officer. After retirement, he became a golf-pro and worked at various courses. He ended his golfing career at Cullasaja Club in Highlands, NC. He was a member of the PGA and Pine Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his son, A. Paul Cook of Roswell, GA; daughter, Donna Marie Cook Rollo of Pace, FL; brothers and sisters James, Leonard, Danny and Randal Cook all of Franklin, Martha Trout of Brentwood, TN and Cathy Williams of Franklin; five grandchildren, Joshua Rollo, Micaela Rollo, Darby Cook, Jordan Cook and Elyse Cook and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 15th at Pine Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Greg Rogers and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 14th at Pine Grove Baptist Church.
