Eldon Potts, 78, of Franklin, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012.
Born in Jackson Co, he was the son of the late Ernest Potts and Hazel Fox Potts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Carl Potts and sister, Gertrude Hooper. Eldon was a US Army veteran and served during the Korean conflict. He drove a Seal Test milk truck for 19 years; He retired as director for Macon County EMS; Christmas tree farmer for over 30 years and was Assistant Scout Master and Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 221 for many years. He also led three expeditions to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
Eldon is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Hattie Mae Wiggins Potts; son, Rick Potts and wife Christy of Cashiers, NC; two grandchildren, Faith and Tucker Potts; two sisters, Bobbie Coward and husband Dale of the Norton Community and Juanita Dilbeck of Titusville, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 30th, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Eddie Stillwell and Rev. Billy Keith will officiate. Burial will be in the Evitt Cemetery with full military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 29th, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Doyle Woods, Terry Bates, Bruce Wooten, Randy Rogers, Warren Henry and Ricky Phillips.
