Edwin Ray Setser, 83, of the Cartoogechaye Community, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011.
Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Gilmer Jacob Setser and Nina Ray Setser. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ellen Setser. Edwin retired from the U.S. Army. He served during the Korean War where he received a purple heart, and during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW Post 7339; and a member and trustee of the Memorial United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Una Crawford Setser; four daughters, Margaret Simpson and husband Bob of Franklin, Mary Miesiaszek and husband Steve of Norcross, GA, Myra Loewenstein and husband David of Rye Brook, NY and Lisa Setser of Franklin; five sisters, Agnes Hunton of Greenwood, SC, Grace Harrison of Franklin, Jean Wilson of Waycross, GA, Anna House of Sarasota, FL and Helen Gent of Old Bridge, NJ; one brother, Richard Setser of Valdosta, GA; ten grandchildren, Caroline, Stephanie, Morgan, Rachael, Taylor, Jeffrey, Sissy, Olivia, Zachary and Sophie; three great grandchildren, Miciah, Maleek and Eric; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 25, at Memorial United Methodist Church. Rev. Keith Newell and Rev. Andy Cloer will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Richard Hunton, Jeffrey Simpson, Zachary Loewenstein, Bob Simpson, Steve Miesiaszek and David Loewenstein.
