Earl Boyd McFadden, MD, 89, of Franklin, passed away peacefully at home with family on Monday, May 28, 2012.
Born in Port Deposit, MD, he was the son of the late James Henry McFadden and Rachel Boyd McFadden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James H. McFadden III. Earl served as a Naval Line Officer on the USS Pierce with the US Navy during WWII. He received his BS, Masters and Medical degrees from the University of Maryland; He maintained a private practice in Psychiatry from 1969-1993 in Greenville, SC. Earl enjoyed hunting and fishing and making and playing musical instruments. He played in the Gospel Travelers Band alongside his wife, Betty, for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Betty Jean McFadden; four children, Betty McFadden, MD of Greenville, SC, Suzanna Workman of Anderson, SC, Earl B. McFadden Jr., MD of Columbia, SC and Lorena M. Cosentino of Franklin; two sisters, Katie Cowen of Rising Son, MD and Peggy Cameron of Michigan; two brothers, James Henry McFadden II of Greensboro, NC and Raymond Dean McFadden of West Palm Beach, FL and eleven grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
