Dorothy Bennett Swafford, 86, of Franklin, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 24, 2005.
A native of Cataloochee in Haywood County, she lived most of her life in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Bartlett Bennett and Iva Lee Hannah Bennett. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Fannie Burr Bradley and two brothers, Ernest Bennett and Ray E. Bennett. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Verlon Swafford; one son, Ben Swafford and wife Jean of Franklin; two grandsons, Joel Swafford and wife Kristen of Franklin and Landon Swafford and wife Brook of Curlew, WA; two great-grandsons, Turner and Bennett Swafford and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 27, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Harold Ball and Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. Burial will be in the Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday, at Macon Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Mark Bennett, E. J. Bradley, Chuck Cocke, Walter Wright, Lowell Hannah, and Jim Hannah.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Cynthia Rowland, 886 Younce Creek Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
