Brokaw, Dorothy Gene "Dottie" 78, of St. Petersburg, FL formerly of Franklin, NC passed away on December 31, 2012.
Dottie was born and raised in Pontiac, MI. She moved to St. Petersburg in the 40's, and graduated from St. Petersburg High School class of '52 where she met the love of her life William A. Brokaw Jr., who preceded her in death. They were married for 46 years. Together they raised 4 wonderful children– Gary Brokaw of Albuquerque, NM, Ken Brokaw (Holly) of Otto, NC – Kathy Obenshain (Lee) of Seminole, FL – Lori Birchard (Dan) of Franklin, NC. She also leaves behind 11 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren – who affectionately called her "Queen Grandma". Dottie retired from Raymond James and Associates and moved to the mountains of North Carolina where she was the owner of Olde Mill House Rentals and Bed and Breakfast Inn, and Mongy's gift shop. She was a former member of The Most Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Gulfport, FL, and St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Franklin, NC.
A Funeral Mass, followed by a celebration of Dottie's life will be held on Monday, January 7th at 11 AM at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, Franklin, NC.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Hospice House Foundation of WNC, Inc. or The Wounded Warrior Project.
