Donald Roger Thibaut went to be with the Lord at the age of 83 on March 2, 2019 in Franklin, North Carolina. He was born at home in London, Ohio on November 10, 1935, the son of Donald and Audrey Thibaut. Roger grew up with his two siblings: Howard and Larry. In 1953, he and his family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he met his wife, Judy.
After graduating from Broward Business College, he began his career in sales management of lumber companies. He managed Lindsley Lumber Company in many cities around Florida, from Key West to Melbourne. In 1987, he and Judy moved to Clermont, Florida to work for CBS Building Supplies. Roger won many awards for leadership and many fascinating trips to foreign ports. Roger was a devoted Christian and served on several Mission Trips. Attending Cursillo in 1980 and serving on the Walk to Emmaus weekends, he inspired many people in faith.
In 2001, Roger and Judy retired to the Mountains of Franklin, North Carolina. Roger enjoyed fishing, woodworking, rebuilding his 1971 Ford Mustang, gardening, singing, playing piano, and being with his family and pets. He performed in several plays and sang in choirs, including Something Good Quartet in Miami, Florida, which sang in many churches as far as New York State. In Franklin, he sang with the award-winning Men Macon Music and Mountain Voices.
Roger is survived by his loving spouse of 63 years Judith Eleanor Thibaut, two children: Cheryl Nowels and Jeff Thibaut (Juliana), six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and a large extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Austin Thibaut. His family will remember him most for his love of family and dedication to living out his faith.
A celebration of life will be held at Bethel United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 2 pm. Rev. Bradley Lisk will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 pm, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in the name of Roger to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, 2201 Alden Road, Orlando, FL 32803.
