Obituary

Donald Churchill Moore Sr., 79, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2009.
Born in Stoneham, MA, he was the son of the late Robert Moore and Sara Jean Churchill Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert E. Moore. He was a U.S. Marines veteran. Donald worked at Carey Hand Funeral Home and Ambulance Service then became a piano technician and owner of D.C. Moore and Son Piano Service Rental and Moving Co.; member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church; Masonic Lodge Composite #293; 32nd degree Scottish Rite and Bahia Shrine Temple. Through the piano business he met the Bradys, who he would move from Eustis, Fl. to Otto, NC for several years, eventually falling in love with this area and making Otto his home. He was founder of SycaMoore Park in Otto, where many families enjoyed picnicking. He always managed to make everyone smile; always leaving a lasting impression.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jo Ann McPherson Moore of Orlando, FL; daughters, Debra Caye Moore and LeAnn Osborne both of Orlando, FL; son, Donald C. Moore Jr. of Astor, Fl; five grandchildren, Donald Churchill Moore III, Devin Wade Moore, Tara Lee Osborne, Danejer Montana Monseur and Dalton Michael Walters.
Funeral Service will be at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2009 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Elder Wally Welch will officiate with the VFW, American Legion conducting military rites and Junaluska Masonic Lodge conducting Masonic rites.
The family will receive friends from 3-5:00 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
