Donald Eugene Sparks, 82, of Franklin, went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 10, 2015.

Born in Portsmouth, OH, he was the son of the late Arnold Sparks and Elizabeth Fannin Sparks. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Devin. He was a US Navy veteran; Ohio University graduate; Appalachian University graduate with a master's degree and was a retired teacher from Dade County Public School System. He enjoyed football, music, hiking, his family, and most of all, serving the Lord Jesus Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lois Thompson Sparks; son, Brian Douglas Sparks (Suzette) of Grand Rapids, Michigan; daughter, Julie Ann Sparks Bennett (Bruce) of Franklin; sister, Nancy Carol Woods (James) of Ohio; two grandchildren, Ethan Sparks and Liberty Sparks and two nieces, Laurie Scott and Rebekah Woods.

Private services will be held for the family.
