Ret. Lt. Col. Donald Cole Olive, 97, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014.
Born in Earl, NC, he was the son of the late Edward Briggs Olive and Edith Fulton Olive. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hilda Beatty Olive; son, Donald Jerry Olive and brothers, Daniel Monroe Olive and Halbert Briggs Olive. Donald graduated from Kings Mountain High School and Wake Forest University. He retired from the US Marine Corps League as a Lt. Col; where he served on a rifle and pistol team and received numerous top honors. He was a past member of VFW, American Legion and an NRA Lifetime Master. Donald was a Christian and loved The Lord.
He is survived by his wife, Marie Cabe Olive; two grandchildren, Donald Lee Olive and Stephanie Lynne Olive; three great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; three step-sons, Sterling, Michael and David Pangle; a special step-daughter, Sharon Urquhart; eight step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.
No services have been planned at this time.
