Donald C. Lakey, 59, of Franklin, NC, entered into rest on Sunday, January 29, 2006.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of C.D. Lakey and the late Norva Bell Tabor Lakey. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was an electronics engineer for U.N.C. TV for 19 years. Donald was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

In addition to his father, C.D. Lakey of Franklin; he is survived by his wife of 28 years, Dianne Daniel Lakey; two brothers, Keith Douglas Lakey of Cornelia, GA and Gary D. Lakey of Franklin, NC; one nephew, Neal Lakey of Cornelia, GA; one great niece, Madison Lakey and one great nephew Hunter Lakey both of Cornelia, GA.

A Memorial Service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service at Macon Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Care Net , 130 Bidwell Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
