Obituary

Dixie June Childers Moses, 88, of Franklin passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018.

Born in Jackson County, she was the daughter of the late Hayes Glen Childers and Louanna Stewart Childers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Moses; and siblings, Jessie Morton, Mary Gee (Lloyd), Aldon Childers (Roma Whitmire), Lucille Evitt (Cleo), Douglas Childers (Jeanette Coggins), Lena Garren (Harold), and Neal Childers (Shelva Jean).

Dixie always used her God given talents to make a difference wherever she served. Endless hours were spent with some of her favorite people at Higdonville Baptist Church. She was a devoted member serving in many capacities including Sunday School teacher, Bible School teacher & superintendent, and working to feed others in the Lord's Acre project. During her Home Extension years, she held various offices and was selected Woman of the Year while encouraging others to learn home economics skills. She truly loved every aspect of Home Extension.

After working as a supervisor for Van Raalte Co, she joined the Tanner of NC group as manager. Throughout her career, she was honored and recognized as Manager of the Year several times. The Tanner store in Franklin received many outstanding accolades while under her leadership. Most important to her were her many clients who drove hours to visit the store and work with her as their personal stylist.

Dixie excelled in all she did-at home, at work, & at play. Working tirelessly, she made a great life for her home, family and extended family. Always helping anyone who needed anything from a new dress to canned food.

However, the most important and joyous years of her life were spent with granddaughters, Erica and Cheryl.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Moses Sanders (Dennis), of Franklin; grandchildren, Erica Sanders Moore (Russ), and Cheryl Sanders Vernon (Trevor); brothers and sister-in-law, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families who were dearly and unconditionally loved by Dixie; and special friends, Ginny Hanks and Jane Riddle.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 pm, Sunday, October 28 at Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Vic Greene and Rev. Janet Greene will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Doug Thompson, 287 Sugarfork Rd., Franklin, NC 28734, or Coins for Alzheimer's Research Trust (CART), 1985 Tate Blvd SE, Suite 43, Hickory, NC 28602.
