Obituary

Dianne Scott O'Connor Cater left this world peacefully Friday, October 10th at her home in Franklin, NC after a 2 year battle with cancer. Dianne began her life May 10th, 1941 in Washington D.C. with her parents Roderick and Cynthia (deceased) and her five brothers and sisters, Lynne, Mickey, Casey, Patsy & Kevin. She summered annually at Governor's Run in Southern MD with her family and then left her birth state to marry James Alan Krug in 1959. She moved to Knoxville TN and had two children with Jimmy, Kristy and Kevin. Having an entrepreneurial spirit and a love of sales she began a career in advertising eight years later after divorcing Jimmy.

She remarried to Franklin Edward Cater Jr. in 1968 on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, TN and had one child, Nikki. She continued her advertising career and became the President of the local chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation after her son, Kevin, was diagnosed with CF. It was during this time that her husband also became ill with Multiple Sclerosis and she began her lifelong interest in natural healing. Her son, Kevin, succumbed to the disease in 1981 after living much longer than doctor's believed possible solely due to a mother's perseverance and love. In 1978, to benefit her husband's health, a move to Maui, HI was made to be in clear air and she learned a love for the ocean there.

Dianne continued her entrepreneurial spirit and founded several successful businesses, first helping Ocean Activities Center become a leader in ocean tours and then founding All 'N All Inc. which remains today. One of Dianne's proudest periods of life was her years spent with her AA & ACoA family on Maui. In 2000, after becoming a widow in 1997, one last move to Franklin NC was made to live with her sister Lynne and then to be joined by her sister Casey. She planned on retiring upon her move, but staying true to self she erected a building and owned a successful Curves in it until 2007.

She was a well respected member of both the Maui and Franklin communities who will be remembered for her beauty, strength, independence, and determination. In loving memory she is survived by all her siblings, her daughters, Kristy Michelle Sabin and Cynthia "Nikki" Pietryka and grandchildren, Nikolas, Sophia, Annabelle, Tyler and Kylie.

The memorial service will be held at Macon Funeral Home at 261 Iotla St in Franklin, NC on Friday October, 17th at 2:00 PM. Her cremains will be scattered in the waters off Maui and Solomon's Island, MD.
