Obituary

Dewey Lee Taylor, 70, of Franklin, NC, passed away Monday, July 17, 2006.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Elmer J. Taylor and Grady Adams Taylor. In addition he was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Taylor and a brother, Charles Taylor. He was a US Army veteran and retired from LBJ Job Corps and construction work. Dewey was a member of Mount Hope Baptist Church serving as Sunday School Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent for a number of years.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Gladys Penland Taylor; one son, Randy Taylor of Franklin; two daughters, Regina Creech and husband James of Waco, Kentucky and Freda Brooks and husband Chuck of Franklin; one sister, Frances Martin and husband John of Zephyrhills, FL; one brother, Kenneth Taylor and wife Kim of Junction City, Kansas; six grandchildren; father-in-law, Wayne Penland of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 21, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Wiley Gibson and Rev. Vic Greene will officiate. Burial will be in the Mount Zion Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at Macon Funeral Home.
