Obituary
Dennis D. Weathers, 71, of Franklin, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018.
He was born July 25, 1946 in Miami, FL and graduated from Hialeah High School in 1965 when he then joined the US Marine Corps. As an aviation ordnance man, he did two tours in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968 and was awarded Combat Aircrew Wings with 3 stars, Bronze Star with Combat V, 9 Air Medals, Combat Action Ribbon, Presidential Unit Citation, Naval Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal with 6 Stars, and other decorations. Upon leaving the Marine Corps in 1969, Dennis graduated from Florida State University in 1973. He was employed by the Osceola County Sheriffs Department, Kissimmee, FL and retired December 7, 2000. Dennis moved to Franklin, NC in 2004. He was a life member of the USMC Combat Helicopter Association, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Vietnam Veterans of America, Marine Corps League Smoky Mtn Detachment and the Marine Corps Association. He attended Cartoogechaye Baptist Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 18th in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.
