Dennis Gene McConnell, 59, of Simpsonville, SC formerly of Franklin passed into the arms of Jesus, Friday May 18, 2012.

Mr. McConnell was born in Macon County and was the son of Gladys Marie Thomas McConnell and the late George "Lyman" McConnell. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda McConnell and a son, Scottie Gene McConnell. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. Dennis worked for the City of Simpsonville Public Works and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his mother, Dennis is survived by his wife Jimmie Lee McConnell; son, Jason Dennis McConnell of Simpsonville, SC; three step children, Sandy Volpe of Largo, Fl., Kenny Gordon of Largo, Fl., and Michael Gordon of Clearwater, Fl.; two brothers, Don McConnell of Franklin and George Rondal McConnell of Marietta, SC; one sister, Beatrice Carpenter of Franklin; six step grandchildren and twelve step great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Service will be 2pm Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Black Mountain Baptist Church. Rev. Michael McConnell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Pallbearers will be Carol Dean, Kenny Gordon, Michael Gordon, Barry Hickman, Roy Koehne and Brian Roberts. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Davis, Charles Hartzog and Ernest Lanham.
