Obituary

Delbert Lewis Likens, 83, of Franklin, passed away Tuesday, November 09, 2010.

Born in Sioux Falls, SD, he was the son of the late Arthur L. Likens and Mabel Inez Millage Likens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Raymond Robins Likens. Delbert was a Captain in the US Army and served during WWII and the Korean conflict. He was a retired high school and junior college teacher; was a member of the Florida National Guard and Virginia National guard and member of the Retired Officers Association. Delbert was a member of First Presbyterian Church and member of Mountain Synagogue.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean Robins Likens; two children, Deborah Likens Christy of Dillard, GA and Lewis Arthur Likens of Suwanee, GA; ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 12 at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Sam Pope and Rev. Larry Pons will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
