David D. Patterson, 76, of Cranston, RI, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Franklin, NC.
David was born in Providence, RI to George and Lois Patterson on November 28, 1942. He attended the University of Rhode Island before entering the US Navy, serving 11 years as a Naval Aviator. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War who served in combat and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal and Air Medal. David and Vicki met in Pensacola, FL and married in Gulf Shores, AL. He retired as a Captain for FedEx after 25 years of service. David was an active member of the Episcopal Church serving on several Vestries. He moved to Franklin, NC permanently in March 2016. David was preceded in death by his late wife Linda DeCubellis Patterson.
He is survived by his wife, Vicki Patterson; sons, David Patterson (Lorie) and Stephen Patterson; step-son, Jeffery Copeland (Haley); grandchildren, Savannah, Kaydance, Scarlett, Trent, Jonathon, and Alexis; two nephews; and three nieces.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, Saturday, March 16 at St. John's Episcopal Church in Franklin, NC. Rev. Carl Southerland will officiate. Brunch will follow at St. John's.
Another Memorial Service will be held at a later date in West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery.
