David Roger Carpenter, 89, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011.
Born in Flint, MI, he was the son of the late L.E. Carpenter and Lulu Belle Cooper Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lulu Belle Carpenter. David was a US Army veteran and served during WWII. He loved woodworking, especially "Joy" which stands for "Jesus first, Others second, Yourself last and this will bring you joy", to share with others. David was a member of First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Lois Stewart Carpenter; three children, Dean Carpenter and wife Jinkie of Lawrenceville, GA, Valarie Ostrander and husband Ronald of St. Petersburg, FL and Cynthia Ercolani of Brevard, NC; three sisters, Rosalind Bale of Michigan, Alene Ruppel of Florida and Mary Brown of Michigan; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in St. Petersburg.
