Obituary

Darwin Joseph Budnick, 91, of Franklin, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2012.

Born in Alpena, MI, he was the son of the late Frank Budnick and May Ayotte Budnick. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Budnick; two brothers, Gary and Donald Budnick and a sister, Elaine Budnick. Darwin was a US Army Air Force veteran and served during WWII. He was a member of American Legion Post 108; owned and operated The Gondola restaurant in St. Petersburg, FL; loved to square dance and raise orchids. He was Episcopal by faith.

He is survived by three sons, Darwin Budnick of Franklin, Nicholas Budnick of Inverness, FL and James Budnick of Baldwin, MO; two brothers, Lyman Budnick of Troy, MI and Clint Budnick of Oscoda, MI; several grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5th at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Eddie Trull and Rev. Brandon Breedlove will officiate with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Holly Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 366 Holly Springs Church Rd, Franklin, NC 28734.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
