Obituary

Curtis Lamar Pearson, of Franklin, died Saturday, May 19, 2012. He was 91 years old.

"Pearson," as he was known by family and friends, was born in Greenville, Georgia on October 16, 1920. He was the son of the late Lemmie L. Pearson and the late Lena Nellie Bowles Pearson. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Belle Sistrunk and Mary Teal. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. He was also a member of the VFW Post 7339, the Junaluskee Masonic Lodge No. 145, and a Deacon of the First Baptist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and with the "Prime Time Singers."

He served on the Franklin Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years, and owned the Franklin Laundry and Dry Cleaners. After retiring, "Pearson" served as the Director of Housekeeping at Angel Community Hospital for twelve years.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cabe Pearson; two sons, Douglas Lamar Pearson and his wife Alice Bradley of Denton, NC; Charles Curtis Pearson and his wife Charlotte of Franklin; sister, Irene Ransom and her husband Bennie of Norris, Tennessee; five grandchildren: Alyson Pearson Bosworth and her husband Bobby; Kurt Pearson and his wife Christina; Brad Pearson and his wife Trinity; Jessica Pearson Tallent and her husband Jonathan, and Matthew Pearson; seven great grandchildren: Collin Bosworth, Slade, Jensen, Ivey, Mia and Ava Pearson and Jackson Tallent; and ten nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 24, at the First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Dusek will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery. VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108 will conduct military graveside rites.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
