Corwin James Mitten, 83, of Franklin, entered into rest Thursday, April 7, 2005.
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late Corwin Warden and Catherine MacIvor Mitten. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Mitten. He was a US Army WWII Veteran and a retired Army Reservist. After retirement from the Army, he was employed as Director of Construction and Planning at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio, retiring in 1985. Corwin was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, serving as an usher and trustee; member of Knights of Columbus; Junaluskee Masonic Lodge No. 145, and Smoky Mountain Shrine Club.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Carol Mitten; two children, Catherine Michaelis and husband, Kenneth of Newark, Ohio and Carol Mitten and husband, Desmond Foynes of Washington, DC; and one grandson, Antonio Michaelis.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at the St. Francis Catholic Church. Burial will be Friday, April 15 at the Wilson Cemetery, Newark, Ohio.
