Obituary
Christine Hall Bankston, 79, of Marietta, GA, formerly of Franklin, NC, passed away on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 12, 2013. She was nine days short of her 80th birthday.
Born in Macon Co., NC, she was the daughter of the late Boise Albert Hall and Laura Robinson Hall. Christine graduated from Franklin High School in 1951 and fulfilled a life-long dream when she graduated from the NC Region-A Consortium with an Associate's Degree in nursing in 1987.
She is survived by a daughter, Vivian Bankston of Marietta, GA (husband Donnie Hampton); a son, David Bankston of Elizabeth City, NC (wife Belinda); granddaughters Allyn Bankston (and great-grandson Aidan Border) of Greenville, NC, and Laura Bankston of Fredericksburg, VA.
Christine is also survived by three brothers, Judson Hall of Franklin, NC (wife Elizabeth); Donald Hall of Asheville, NC (wife Diane); and Bergen Hall of Dallas, TX (wife Bea). These brothers blessed her life with an extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Christine had an adventurous side, as evidenced by her travels in North America, the British Isles, Hawaii, Tahiti, and Australia. She loved the beautiful mountains of Western NC and spent many happy hours hiking and observing the flowers and birds so numerous there. After her children were well into high school, Christine began to work outside the home in retails sales, as a substitute houseparent in a Baptist children's home, at Macon County Supply, and finally as a nurse at Angel Community Hospital in Franklin. She was happiest when she was serving others, whether through volunteer work or through her employment. Her dignified, faith-filled, loving and generous spirit will not be forgotten.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 21st, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
