Obituary

Charlie Lee Holt, 49, passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 23, 2012. Known as Lee, he was born in Rockledge, Florida, and was the son of Alene Adams Danford of Enigma, GA and the late Charlie Ray Holt.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his life partner of 14 years, George Thomas Sherrill of Asheville; a beloved aunt, Ival Rainey of Waycross, GA; a step-sister, Susan Kaufman of Cumming, GA; a favorite cousin, Sheila Murphy of Hodgenville, KY; loving and faithful companions, Rebecca and Eric Banks of Franklin and numerous friends.

Lee had many interests. He was an avid gardener, cultivating flowers, vegetables and fruit trees. He had a love of and special rapport with animals, especially his thirteen cats, two dogs and various species of poultry. He was moved to great anger when he witnessed any animal being abused. Until his declining health prevented him doing so, Lee was a Master Bench Jeweler whose work had been featured in galleries locally, in Naples, Florida and in Italy. Most importantly he will be remembered for his loving and compassionate heart.

A memorial service will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Cartoogechaye at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 10. The Very Reverend Todd Donatelli, Dean of the Cathedral of All Souls in Biltmore, will officiate.

Memorial donations may be made to the Macon County Humane Society, PO Box 81, Franklin, NC 28744.
