Obituary

Charles Vernon Taylor, 66, of Franklin, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 10, 2005.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Elmer James Taylor and Grady Adams Taylor. Charles was a US Air Force veteran; a heavy equipment operator for Andy Berry and a member of a Higdonville Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Martha Jane Earley Taylor; two children, Bruce Taylor and wife Patricia Sumner Taylor of Franklin and Judy Taylor Cunningham and husband Anthony of Elko, Nevada; two brothers, Dewey Taylor of Franklin and Kenneth Taylor of Junction City, Kansas and one sister, Frances Martin of Gwinnett, GA; two grandsons, Jonathan Allan Taylor of Franklin and Cody Cunningham of Elko, Nevada; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 14 at Sugarfork Baptist Church. Rev. Alton Dendy, Rev. Mack Hudson and Rev. Wiley Gibson will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Higdon, Steve Higdon, Brian Taylor, Tim Higdon, Andy Berry and Mark Berry.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Taylor, Allen Henry, Howard Henry and Willard Gibson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Sugarfork Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, C/O Doug Thompson, 287 Sugarfork Road, Franklin, NC 28734.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
