Cecile Gibson, 89, of Franklin, passed away Friday, June 27, 2008.
Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Gibson and Kella Christie Gibson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by nephew, Earl Camm; sister, Eula Mae Camm and brothers, Dorman Gibson, GH Gibson, Edison Gibson, Devereaux Gibson, Otis Gibson and John Christie Gibson. Cecile was an active lifelong member of Liberty Baptist Church and held many offices, which to include, teaching Sunday School for over 50 years. She was a graduate of the Cecil Business College. Cecile was a member of Daughters of the American Revolution; Charter member and first recording secretary of the Macon County Historical Society; Member of the Civil Air Patrol and member of the Business and Professional's Club. She retired from Jones Key Melvin & Patton where she worked for many years.
Cecile is survived by sister, Clara Maude Wooten of Greenville, SC; nieces, Beverly Gibson Webb, Peggy Ramey, Sandy Elbaum, Joy Dorling, Rose Malott Walsh, Cindy Gibson Jenkins and Jane Stamey; nephews, Donny Gibson, Bernie Gibson, Mike Wooten, Tommy Gibson and Tim Wooten; nine great-nieces; six great-nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be on Sunday, June 29, 2008 at 3:00 p.m at Liberty Baptist Church. Rev. Rick Potts, Rev. Charles Stevens, Rev. Andy Cloer and Rev. Wesley Hooper will officiate. Burial will be in the Snowhill Methodist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Bernie Gibson, Jerome Dorling, Christopher Dorling, Jason Dorling, Tommy Gibson and Bobby Collins.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 28, 2008 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Macon Funeral Home. A visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at Liberty Baptist Church on Sunday.
