Obituary

Mr. Cecil Harrison Crawford, of Sylvania, passed Wednesday morning, October 7, 2009, at the Screven County Hospital.
Son of the late Harley J. Crawford and Minnie Tallent Crawford was born in Franklin, N.C. After finishing school he enlisted in the U.S. Army with the 99th Infantry Division and served during WWII and served in action in France, Belgium, and Germany. He worked in the construction and maintenance field with the N.C. State Highway Dept and retired with Houston County, GA. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvania.
Survivors include wife of 63 years, Margaret Carter Crawford of Sylvania; a son, H. Carter (Nancy Gay) Crawford, Sr. of Sylvania; five grandchildren, John J. Crawford, of Sylvania, H. Carter Crawford, Jr. of the U.S. Army, of Fort Stewart, Mary (Todd) Wamboldt, of Beaufort, GA, Clark H. Crawford, of Statesboro, Hays Crawford (Andy) Jones, of Sylvania, GA; and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 1:00pm at Macon Funeral Home.
Graveside services will follow at 3:00pm at Iotla Baptist Church Cemetery.
