Catherine Cook Bennington, 81, of Franklin, passed away Friday, February 10, 2012.
Born in Cumberland County, NC, she was the daughter of the late A.J. Cook and Lena Capps Cook. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Stacy, Dewey, Herman, Latta, Garland, Leon and Herbert; three sisters, Ruby, Annie Ruth and Jean. Catherine graduated from Charlotte Memorial School of Nursing. She worked as a nursing instructor and RN for various hospitals for over 35 years. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church and enjoyed sewing and quilting.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert R. Bennington, Jr.; a son, J. Robert Bennington and wife Valerie of Brooks, GA; grandchildren, Victoria Little and husband Ray of Montgomery, AL and Andrew J. Whatley of Gulf Shores, AL; great granddaughters, Reese and Reagan Little; brother-in-law, Jim Bartlett and wife Carol of Pleasant Garden, NC; sister-in-law, Barbara Puglisi and husband Bill of Annandale, NJ; and special friends, Ken Shaffer, Michele and Brett of Bumpass, VA.
Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 15, at Grace Presbyterian Church. Dr. Kenneth R. Jones will officiate. Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pallbearers will be Bill Dyar, John Sill, Chad Boniface, Richard Racosky, Dale North, Dave Huettig, Lyman Bryant and John Henning, Sr.
