Obituary

Carroll Lamar Bishop, 72, of Franklin, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012.

Born in Jackson County, he was the son of the late Rev. Joe Bishop and Pearl Smith Bishop. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Quinton Bishop; two nieces, Connie Bishop Higdon and Clydas Bishop Guffey; nephew, Robbie Cobb and sister-in-law, Mary Lee Hall Bishop. Carroll was a U.S. Army veteran, truck driver for Parrish Construction; past member of Franklin Lions Club and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Faye Phillips Bishop; daughter, Amy Robinson and husband Michael of Franklin; five brothers, Tom Bishop and wife Ellen, Rev. Mark Bishop and wife Linda, Roger Bishop and wife Joyce and Brad Bishop and wife Margaret all of Franklin and Jewel Ray Bishop of Marietta, GA; three sisters, Marsellie Cobb and husband George and Peggy Arnold and husband William all of Danville, VA and Joey Cochran and husband Jimmy of Franklin; two granddaughters, Lauren Robinson and Brooke Robinson both of Franklin and sister-in-law, Ruby Bishop of Sylva.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 7, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Jim Dusek, Rev. Judson Hall, Rev. Steve Reeves and Rev. Mark Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the VFW Post 7339 and the American Legion Post 108.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, February 6, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Robinson, Tony Parrish, Jamie Cochran, Scotty Bishop, Bobby Bishop, Mitchell Bishop, Larry Bishop and Charlie Bishop.

Memorial donations can be made to the Angel Medical Center Cancer Team, C/O Kathy Morris, 120 Riverview Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
