Obituary

Bryson Boyce "Budge" Hodgin, 78, of Franklin, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012.

Born in Macon County, he was the son of the late Ed Charles Hodgin and Arlee M. Tallent Hodgin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Thelma Sue Deweese Hodgin who died in 1983; a son, Boyce Wymer Hodgin; step son, Ray Tallent and brother, Clarence Hodgin. Budge was a member of Black Mountain Baptist Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher. He loved fishing, gardening and coon hunting.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Maxine Tallent Hodgin; daughter, Glenda Sheperd of Franklin; step children, Phil Tallent, Wanda Rogers, Linda Bishop, Christine Woodall and Sharon Peek all of Franklin; step daughter-in-law, Joanne Tallent of Franklin; four brothers, Bryant, Johnny, Willie and Jack all of Franklin; four sisters, Vada Murphy and Joyce McMahan both of Franklin, Mildred Tallent of Greenville, SC and Romaneal Hodgin of Sevierville, TN ; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; eleven step grandchildren; twelve step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 20, at Windy Gap Baptist Church. Rev. Mark Bishop and Rev. Ernie Jamison will officiate. Burial will be in the Black Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, February 19, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Bishop, Scotty Bishop, Kevin Rogers, Brian Tallent, Adam Tallent, Bradon Peek and Jeff Clark. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Price, Elbert McConnell, Carl Prince, Neville Clark and Tony Corbin.

Memorial donations can be made to the Angel Medical Center Cancer Team, In Memory of Ray Tallent, C/O Kathy Morris, 120 Riverview Street, Franklin, NC 28734.

Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
