Bruce Allan Christensen, 76, of Punta Gorda, FL, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2018.
Born in Geneva, NY, he was one of 5 siblings. His parents were both of Danish descent. The family moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 1957 and Bruce graduated from Charlotte High School in 1959. He then attended the University of Florida. Bruce served in the U.S. Air Force and enjoyed his travels throughout Europe and North Africa from 1962-1966. In 1966 he married Sue Leath Nagel who was his wife for 30 years. He worked for General Electric Credit Corporation in both Fort Myers and Clearwater, FL and then continued to work for Chrysler First Corp and Barclays Bank. His love for music and memorabilia extended throughout his life. Upon returning from the service he developed a deep interest in America's Rock and Roll. He collected records, books and other memorabilia over the years and developed friendships with Rock and Roll fans from US to England and Australia. He enjoyed having a radio show on WMNF in Tampa, FL called Let the Good Times Roll. He also started a DJ service called the Tune Rockers where he spent his leisure time playing his beloved records from his collection for parties and events all over Florida. In addition, Bruce was an active member of the Buddy Holly Memorial Society and traveled to conventions for over 20 years. He and his wife also had the pleasure of operating the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa and became friends with many Rock and Roll Era artists. His later years were spent in Nashville, TN and Cocoa Beach, FL enjoying his friends and family, as well as in Franklin, NC with his daughter, Trina.
He is preceded in death by his parents Eilart and Ellen Christensen and brother Roger Christensen.
He is survived by his daughter, Trinica Christensen Rueckerl of Otto; three step children, Jerry Nagel of Franklin, NC, Brenda Devalle of Fayetteville, GA and Barbara Kennedy of Merritt Island, FL; his ex-wife, Sue Hawkins of Fayetteville, GA; brothers, Mark Christensen and Bill Christensen; sister, Debbie Newsom all of Port Charlotte, FL; seven grandchildren; one great grandson and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, July 21, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Bruce's ashes will be returned to his beloved Bellona, NY where he will rejoin his parents and his brother in their final resting place.
