Bobby Gene Jones, 74 passed away peacefully late Friday night, October 31st 2014 after a long illness.
He was born November 14, 1939 in Goldsboro, NC, to the late William & Virginia Sewell Jones. Bobby was a graduate of Oscar Frommel Smith High School in South Norfolk, VA. He was married to Barbara "Niya" Jones from July 16, 1961 till her passing in 2001. Bobby joined the USMC also in 1961 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant E-5. He then joined the VA Army National Guard where he remained until moving to NC, where he then spent the next 6 years with the NC Army National Guard.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara "Niya" Jones; brother, William "Bill" Jones & granddaughter Sarah Koehler.
Bobby is survived by his son & daughter-in-law, Robert & Robin Jones; his daughter & son-in-law Kara & Bruce Koehler; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
A private grave side service will be held Wednesday November 5th at Rush Cemetery, Otto, NC.
Memorial contributions are welcome at Appalachian Animal Rescue Center Lake Emory Rd, Franklin, NC.
