Bob Crumley, 89, of Franklin, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015.
Born in Lake County, FL, he was the son of the late Beda Crumley and Agnes Ophelia Mulican Crumley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Gail Lynn Crumley Barley and son, Russell Douglas Crumley. Bob was a naval carrier pilot and aviator for the US Navy, serving during WWII and the Korean conflict; he had a great love for his country. He later owned and operated his own insurance agency, Crumley & Associates. Bob was a dedicated mission worker, traveling to China, Cuba and the Philippines; a member of First Alliance Church in Franklin and his main goal in life was to always give glory to God.
He is survived by his wife 32 years, Diane Burton Crumley; three children, Roxane Stiles and husband Dennis of Sylva, NC, Beth Phillips and husband Tim of Florida and Rod Gochnauer and wife Stephanie of South Carolina; one sister, Dorothy Crumley Young of Florida; nine grandchildren; six great grandchildren and a number of extended family.
A Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 14th at First Alliance Church. Rev. Scott Eichelberger will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 4-5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
The family wishes to thank the local Franklin VA Community Clinic, the Asheville VA Hospital and the NC State Veterans Home in Black Mountain, for their outstanding service.
