Betty Van Oeveren, 97, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2018.
Born in Grand Rapids, MI, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene Scherphorn Dronkers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Van Oeveren. During WWII she worked at Bissell as a punch press operator. She and Marvin built three homes together in Grand Rapids, Sarasota and finally Franklin, where she liked to see a mountain from her kitchen window. Betty enjoyed bowling, sewing and gardening.
She is survived by her son Ronald Van Oeveren and his wife Diana of Destin, FL; "adopted daughter", Sue Roberts; long time friend, Ruth Farley; close neighbor, Ruth Tower; sister, Shirlie Pipe of Grand Rapids, MI; special niece, Sandi Armstrong; niece, Sharyl Ream and two nephews, Steve and Scott Broekema.
The family would like to thank Betty's caregivers for their wonderful care in the past years, Janie Kennedy, April Franklin, Mary Olen, Sandy Brendle, Regina Markum, Tami Beane and Hilda Young.
A gathering of friends will be held at Betty's home on Saturday, September 1 from 3:00-5:00 p.m.
