Obituary

Betty Luther Dowdle Holland, 80, of Franklin, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2009.

Born in Macon County, she was the daughter of the late George Luther and Launa Norris Luther Dowdle. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step father, Plenny Dowdle; husband, Kenneth Holland; infant daughter, Lee Ann Holland; brothers, Carl Dowdle, Jim Dowdle, Clarence Dowdle, Ralph Dowdle and J.B Luther. Betty retired from Burlington Industries; was formerly an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church before becoming a member of First Baptist Church and served as president of AARP. Betty loved traveling but her greatest love was her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Kenneth Gerald Holland and wife Sheena of Clyde, NC, Mary Paulette "Polly" Bradley and husband Terry Bradley of Franklin, Sandra Breedlove and husband Terry Breedlove of Franklin; sisters, Carolyn Chastain and husband Roy, Pauline Stiwinter and husband Morris, Marie Brabson and husband Bobby, Louise Williamson and husband, Bill, Nell Goforth and husband Ray and Bonnie Kelley and husband Bob; brothers, Charles Dowdle and wife Linda, Earl Dowdle and wife Joyce, Shirley Dowdle and wife Virginia and Ray Dowdle and wife Betty; grandchildren, April Holland Ward and husband, David, Jeremy Holland and wife Joni, Nathaniel Breedlove and wife Amy, Matthew Breedlove and wife Brooke, Brandon Breedlove and wife Nancy, Rebecca Bradley Pruitt and husband Alan and Tim Queen and wife Jennifer; great grandchildren, Josey and Angel Ward, Ashley and Sara Holland, Chloe and Cadee Breedlove, Kelton Elkins, Evan and Alex McCourt Bryce Queen and Tyler Queen and special caregiver, Lois Morgan.

Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Reeves, Rev. Brandon Breedlove and Rev. Jim Dusek will officiate. Burial will be in the Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, December 14, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Nathaniel Breedlove, Matthew Breedlove, Jeremy Holland, David Ward, Tim Queen and Ronnie Goforth. All other nephews to serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
