Barbara Elizabeth Crusselle Lamb passed away quietly at Angel Hospital in Franklin, North Carolina Thursday, September 6, 2012. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, a beloved sister and great friend to those who knew her. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia August 8, 1940 to Mr. & Mrs. Victor Hugo Cursselle. Her parents have preceded her in death. She was the oldest of four children and was the wind under her parent's wings when her brother passed away in August of 1970 from a scuba diving accident. She is survived by a sister Annis Cursselle of Franklin, NC and a sister Victoria Todd of Biloxi, MS, a son Victor Lamb and a grandson, Daniel Funke of Farley, IA. Barbara will be sorely missed by her sisters and was their role model and mentor. Her parents were so instrumental in teaching her to respect others, to be kind hearted and your integrity and word is your character. Barbara never asked anyone to do a task that she herself was not willing to start and finish and she believed in second chances. Barbara graduated from Edgewater Highs School, Orlando, FL in 1958. She continued her education in nursing at Southern Adventist University in Collegedale, TN. Barbara became a realtor in Florida and enjoyed buying homes to renovate and sell. During the years of renovation, Mrs. Lamb learned the roofing business in Orlando. She was a stock owner and administrator for GRI Roofing and was appointed as the first woman to be on the state of Florida's Executive Roofing Board. Barbara married her soul mate, Louis Colangione on May 5, 1990. She lovingly cared for him in a courageous fight with Alzheimer's and her best friend passed on to be with his Jesus on May 6, 2006. He was her true north and their love was a testimony of what marriage should be. She was a blessing and believed in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Her last act of volunteering was with the Cullasaja Fire Department. Their kindness and friendship played itself forward in her respect and love for those who put their lives on the line. She requested that her ashes be spread in a private ceremony. The world is a better place having had Barbara in it and He will raise her up on eagles' wings.
A special thank-you goes to Angel Hospital and Angel Hospice, for the loving care shown to Barbara before she went home.
In lieu of flowers, Barbara would have preferred donations to the Cullasaja Fire Department, 104 River Road, Franklin, NC 28734.
Macon Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
