Barbara Sutton Lanning, 91 of Franklin, went to her heavenly home on Thursday, December 17, 2020.

Mrs. Lanning was born in Oswego, NY, the daughter of the late Charles Sutton Sr. and Bertha McPhee Sutton. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Weldon Lanning Sr; brother, Charles Sutton Jr; and two granddaughters, Teresa and Holly Lanning. Barbara was Presbyterian by faith and a member of Wiley Presbyterian Church in Rabun County.

She is survived by her son, James Lanning and wife Starlett of Rabun Gap; a sister, Linda Dennis of PA; and one granddaughter, Angela Lanning of San Diego, CA. She also has six great grandchildren, Josh, Jessica, Zachary, Devon, Cassidy, and Colton; and four great great grandchildren surviving.

Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic, the family will be having a graveside service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Enka on Monday, December 21 at 2pm. The Rev. Steve Reeves will officiate.

The family respectfully asked masks be worn and social distancing to be practiced.
