Obituary
"Aunt Muriel" Welch, 99, of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010.
Born in Macon Co. she was the daughter of the late Wilburn E. Welch and Alice Kimsey Welch. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters, Fred Welch, Louis Welch, Maude Baldwin, Frank Welch, Eula Welch, Ralph Welch, Howard Welch, Bill Welch, Lucy Catway, Adibell Stanley, Edgar Welch and Kenneth Welch. Aunt Muriel loved to read, garden in her flowers and crochet. She was a former Sunday School teacher and was the oldest member of Burningtown Baptist Church. She was a "mother" to many and a "grand-mother" to even more.
She is survived by a brother, Thomas Paul Welch of Franklin; a sister, Joanna Hedrick of Charlotte, NC; 24 nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and also, several great-great nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 15, at Burningtown Baptist Church. Rev Randy Drinnon will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14 at Macon Funeral Home.
Memorial donations can be made to Franklin High School's "Future Farmers of America and Horticulture", 100 Panther Drive, Franklin, NC 28734.
