Obituary

Ardelle Ruth Armstrong Baer, 84, of Franklin, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014.

Born on September 4, 1929, she grew up in New York City. She graduated from Barrington Bible College in Rhode Island with a teaching degree and eventually earned her master's degree in education. She taught elementary school in Brentwood, Long Island, NY for over 30 years, thereby nurturing generations of children. She married Howard Baer in 1965 and they set up household first in Brentwood then later in Stonybrook, Long Island. They came to know and love Franklin and built their house in preparation for retirement, however Howie passed away before they could realize their shared dream and Ardelle moved to Franklin alone in 1984.

Ardelle loved her Boston Terriers, quilting, reading, her church and her friends in Franklin. She was active in Bible study, the Longview Baptist Church choir, and OLEO ("Old Ladies Eating Out") lunch bunch.

Ardelle is survived by nieces, nephews, two sisters-in-law and a multitude of friends. Though small in stature, her heart was enormous.

A Memorial Service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2nd at Longview Baptist Church. Pastor Tom Nahlen officiated.

Macon Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
