Annie Ruth Lane Woodbury, 92, a resident of Franklin, NC, (formerly of Indianapolis, IN), went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 26, 2015. She had trusted Christ as her Savior March 26, 1955.
The daughter of the late Edward Gray Lane and Ola Elizabeth (Clarke) Lane, she was born May 12, 1923, and reared in Morganton, NC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving, devoted husband and best friend of 73 years Carl Troy Woodbury, Sr. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Edna Burton (Lane) Pyatte and Frances Willamena (Lane) Steele.
Surviving family members are her daughter Lana Carol (Woodbury), and husband James D. Petersen, Sr., of Franklin; her son Carl Troy Woodbury, Jr., and wife Sandra Lynn (Nease), of Lawrenceville, GA; four grandchildren: Carla Christine (Petersen), and husband Fredrick Sankuer, of Florence, SC; James D. Petersen, Jr., and wife Donna Renee (Anders), of Brevard, NC; Blake Troy Woodbury, and wife Jennifer Elaine (Ramsey), of Monroe, GA; and Kimberly Lynn (Woodbury), and husband Taylor De Forrest Smith, of Roswell, GA. She had nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She graduated from Morganton (NC) High School in 1940, and married Carl on November 29, 1941.
Ruth was a supportive, loving mother and pastor's and evangelist's wife following her husband in the ministry as Carl pastored several churches in North Carolina, Virginia and Indiana, and then held evangelistic meetings which took them to all fifty states and forty-four foreign countries in forty-seven years. Ruth was a long-time member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ohio.
Ruth was continually involved in her church, visiting with her husband, and she was instrumental in leading many ladies to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ both while a pastor's wife and in his evangelistic meetings around the world. She enjoyed taking care of her children and grandchildren, keeping her home well and socializing with friends.
Receiving of friends will be Saturday, October 31st, at 10:30 AM, and the funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the Victory Baptist Church, # 25 Victory Church Road, midway between Franklin and Sylva, on US 441. Interment will take place at 4:00 PM that day at Forest Hill Cemetery in Morganton, NC.
