Andrew Jackson Patton, age 85, of McKinney, Texas, passed away June 9, 2011, in McKinney.
Andy was born February 27, 1926, in Franklin, North Carolina, to Robert A. and Mamie (Slagle) Patton. He married Barbara Corbeels on August 25, 1956, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Andy, a graduate of NC State, was an aeronautical engineer who worked in purchasing, materials and sub contracts at LTV, f/k/a Chance Vought. After early retirement, he volunteered at the Museum of Science and History in Ft. Worth, Texas and was an original member of the DFW Ambassadors. In addition to his family, he loved airplanes, painting, photography, and parties!
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Patton of McKinney and children: Jim and Ellen Patton of Philadelphia, Jeanette and Mike Fitzgerald of McKinney, Susan and Mike Salm of Boston, and Mike and Kay Patton of Eugene, OR; brother Mack Patton of Murphy, NC; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, at Patton United Methodist Church in Franklin, NC. Rev. Keith Newell will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in his name to a charity of choice.
