Allan Stivers Kahkonen, 79, of Franklin, passed away Friday, May 8, 2015.
Born in Queens, NY, he was the son of the late George Oscar Kahkonen and Marguerite Stivers Kahkonen. Allan was a US Army veteran. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Animal Husbandry and worked as a Master Carpenter and Building Contractor in East Hampton, NY for most of his life. He enjoyed woodworking, blacksmithing, bee keeping and gun-smithing. He was a member of First Alliance Church in Franklin.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judy Nelson Kahkonen; four children, Dawn Bailey (Jonathan) of Milford, CT, Kristin Kahkonen DuPree (Keith) of Southampton, NY, Amanda Kelly (Tim) of Torrington, CT and David Nelson Kahkonen (Andrea) of Norfolk, VA; brother, Roy Kahkonen of Ocala, FL; sister, June Jaycox of Ocala, FL; fourteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; one niece and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 12th at First Alliance Church. Rev. Scott Eichelberger will officiate.
