Obituary
Alfred W. Smith, 90, of Franklin, passed away Sunday, May 18, 2008.
Born in Fonda, NY, he was the son of the late William K. Smith and Grace Nutt Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by half brother, George Smith. Alfred retired from the University of Florida as a Ceramic Engineer. He served in the Army Air Corp during WWII. He was very active in the Franklin Consort, loved music and enjoyed playing the bass. Alfred was a member of The Arts Council of Macon County.
Alfred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Fern Elizabeth Sathra Smith and one son, Paul Smith of Gainesville, FL.
Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to The Arts Council of Macon County, 33 East Main Street, Franklin, NC 28734.
