Alfred Lee (Cotton) Posey, 71, of Franklin, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016.

Born in Swain County, he was the son of the late Alfred Henry Posey and Alice Moore Posey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Douglas M. Posey. Cotton was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church. He retired from Belden Industries after over 30 years of service.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Willa Mae Webb Posey; four sisters, Joyce (Jerry) Starr and Etta (Jake) Breedlove of Franklin, Jearline (Clyde) Allen of Bryson City and Barbara C. Grooms of New Smyrna Beach, FL and numerous brother/sister-in-laws; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 15, in the Chapel of Macon Funeral Home. Rev. Brandon Breedlove and Rev. Judson Hall will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Friday, January 15, at Macon Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Gibson, Chad Gibson, Terry Breedlove, Jim Breedlove, Nathaniel Breedlove, and Matthew Breedlove, Bobby Ledford and Steve Pettit. Dale Morgan will serve as Honorary Pallbearer.
