J. Alex McKown, Jr., 81, of Franklin, entered into rest on Tuesday, January 4, 2005.
A native of Conley, GA, he was the son of the late Joseph A. McKown, Sr. and Florence Hatcher McKown Ball. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII and was involved in the invasion of Normandy. Alex was a self employed certified prothetist.
He is survived by his wife Mary Kay Wood McKown; two daughters, Cheryl Guinn of Lake Charles, LA and Kathy Spencer of Villa Rica, GA; one brother, Mansell Ezzard of Eatonton, GA; three sisters, Josie Adams of Dawsonville, GA, Leonora Mullinax of Talking Rock, GA and Ann Hamilton of Coppers Cove, TX; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 7, at Oak Grove Baptist Church. Rev. Judson Hall and Rev. Gene Bohner will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Friday, January 7 at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
Pallbearers will be Jim Hughes, Sandy Adams, Joe Ezzard, J.P. Mullinax, Mike Wood and Scott Adams.
