Alex Godbout, 91, of Niceville, FL, formerly of Franklin, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010.
Born in Dayton, OH, he was the son of the late Alexander Joseph Godbout and Pearl Marie Wilkie Godbout. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Velma Godbout. Alex was retired from the US Air Force reserve with a rank of major, having first served as a fighter pilot in World War II. He was employed as a communications consultant for Southern Bell in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, retiring after 30 years of service and moving to Franklin in 1980. He was active in the Watauga Vista community, a member of the Smokey Mountain Shriner's Club, and part of the Aviation Historical.
Alex is survived by his daughter Jeanine Steele and her husband William in Niceville, FL and five grandchildren, Melanie Steele of Austin, Texas, David Steele of Niceville, FL, Daniel Estrada of Indianapolis, IN, Davey Marcotte of Crestview, FL, and Nikki Davis of Niceville, FL.
In accordance with Mr. Godbouts's wishes, no services have been planned.
